A-10
"Warthog"
A couple of A-10 Warthogs from Barksdale AFB, Louisiana were showing teeth at the show.
"A face only a mother could love".
The Warthog was literally built around the General Electric GAU-8/A Avenger 30mm cannon and 1,350 round drum. The cannon has a firing rate of 42,000 round/sec. Each armor piercing incendiary (API) round is 11.4 in. (290mm) long and weighs an impressive 2.05lb (930g).
Although the Warthog is one of the slower flying aircraft in the show, it refuses to be outdone by the "fast movers". It's amazing agility is apparent as it tuns and jinks over the airfield. It also made several pyrotechnic assisted attack runs to simulate a bit of the Absolute Hell that it can release on it's prey during a real engagement.
